The MAXXDRIVE® XC industrial gear unit combines a compact footprint with the flexibility of NORD's modular system. Available in multiple configurations and designed to deliver constant torque, it is well suited for demanding mixing, agitation, and other heavy-duty applications where space is limited.

Designed for Mixers and Agitators

The Challenge
Mixing and agitation applications place complex radial and axial loads on the agitator shaft. Depending on the viscosity of the material being processed, drive systems must withstand these forces while delivering the high output torque needed for continuous, reliable operation. Because gear units are often mounted directly to the mixer, a compact design is also essential.

The Solution
MAXXDRIVE XC delivers constant torque for continuous operation in demanding mixing and agitation applications. Its compact, torsionally rigid housing withstands high operating loads while minimizing installation space.

When paired with the SAFOMI IEC adapter, the integrated oil reservoir eliminates external oil lines and shaft seals that are subject to leakage and wear. The result is improved reliability and reduced maintenance.

Pressure Lubrication (LCX)

Delivers oil directly to critical components, reducing oil levels while extending gear unit service life.

Maintains operating temperatures within specified limits while increasing thermal capacity and service life.

MAXXDRIVE XC in Action: Biogas Production

One of Europe's largest biomethane plants in Friesoythe, Lower Saxony, relies on MAXXDRIVE industrial gear units to drive the central agitators supplied by PRG. The facility processes approximately 1 million metric tons of manure and liquid manure each year. Each fermentation tank requires continuous agitation of up to 9,500 m³ of biomass.

Each agitator weighs 7.5 metric tons (excluding the gear unit) and features 5 meter wide blades mounted on 22 meter long shafts.
Installed outdoors, MAXXDRIVE gear units provide reliable 24/7 operation.
Low friction roller bearings, precise shaft alignment, and the SAFOMI IEC adapter extended maintenance intervals, with the first oil change performed after 20,000 operating hours.
