A reason to celebrate: 40 years of NORD in Austria
The NORD branch in Linz is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Together with its subsidiaries, it is the hub for Southern and Eastern Europe thanks to its central location and optimum transport routes.

With the branch’s establishment in Linz in October 1985, NORD wanted to strengthen its presence in Austria but also create a distribution centre for the subsidiaries in Croatia, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, thus further developing and expanding the support in Southern and Eastern Europe. In addition to offering the entire NORD product portfolio, an assembly facility for drive technology was also built there. In 2000, the positive order development called for more space and the site was moved to Südpark – slightly outside of Linz but with more convenient transport links. On a production area of 1,480 m², approximately 7,850 drive units are assembled per year. The office area is 500 m².
“In recent years, the focus in Linz has been on the expansion of the service department, the digitalisation both in the back office and in production as well as the modernisation of the workspaces and offices”, reports managing director Peter Gatringer. “Currently, we are mainly focusing on strengthening our site and gaining additional market shares in Austria.” In addition, investments in green technologies are made – such as a photovoltaic system. A celebration for the 30 employees and their families is planned for autumn. The employees of the subsidiaries and international partners are also invited.
