Virtual commissioning of drives – with digital twins from NORD.
At NORD DRIVESYSTEMS, it is now possible to request individually configured drive systems as simulation models. This allows engineers to verify early in the planning phase whether the drive concept is suitable for the system. Virtual commissioning significantly reduces the project time.

Already in the planning phase, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS helps its customers achieve greater efficiency and availability of its drive systems with a digital service: With digital twins of its drives, the solution provider enables virtual commissioning.
Just a few weeks until actual commissioning
As usual, users can configure drive systems or components via the myNORD customer portal – and request it as a simulation model afterwards. These digital twins of the NORD solutions provide several benefits for planners:
- Extensive testing: The simulation models are tested in a simulated system and can be easily and quickly adapted based on data if necessary.
- Fewer errors: Errors can already be corrected at an early stage in development and potential later damage can be prevented.
- Faster availability: Validation is carried out entirely using virtual models. The drives from NORD are only manufactured after approval by the customer.
- Short-term commissioning: Upon delivery, the drives are already functionally integrated into the system control. Therefore, actual commissioning can be implemented within a very short period of time.
- Accelerated overall process: The process from configuration to commissioning only requires a few weeks instead of several months.
NORD is kicking off the virtual commissioning with its range of high-efficiency IE5+ and IE4 motors, along with the corresponding gear units and frequency inverters. Simulation models will gradually become available for other product areas as well.
