Reliable drive technology for open-cast mining in North Macedonia
NORD DRIVESYSTEMS has successfully supplied the drive technology for TECHMI – a specialist for conveyor solutions in bulk handling – in a challenging open-cast mining project in North Macedonia. This partnership is another example for the high-level industry expertise and the technical knowledge NORD DRIVESYSTEMS offers in drive technology for complex industrial applications.
Project requirements
In the framework of this project, a conveyor system comprising three long belts was implemented in an extreme environment where it is exposed to temperatures from -25 °C to +40 °C. The system must ensure a constant conveying capacity of 1,100 tons of rock per hour, while overcoming large height differences and complex curves. Each of the three conveyor belts was equipped with drive solutions of different power of 250 kW, 500 kW or 1,200 kW.
TECHMI’s decision to collaborate with NORD DRIVESYSTEMS in this project was based on the high competence in the bulk industry and on the successful implementation of comparable projects. The close cooperation between both companies allows to meet challenges in the project and to implement innovative technical solutions.
Application solutions
NORD DRIVESYSTEMS’ many years of experience in drive technology and the close cooperation with TECHMI allowed for the development of a tailor-made solution, which meets the special requirements of this challenging project.
Not only are the drive solutions developed and supplied by NORD DRIVESYSTEMS extremely resistant to the harsh environmental conditions, but they also ensure long-term and smooth operation of the system. This efficiency and reliability make sure that the conveyor belts remain in operation for many years, maximising the open-cast mining’s productivity.
